Antique French Button-Handle “Shrek Ear” Confit Pot
A beautiful antique French stoneware confit pot featuring the distinctive button handles often affectionately referred to as “Shrek ears.” Traditionally used for preserving food, this wonderfully utilitarian vessel has a rounded form, soft gray-biege glaze and fine overall crazing developed through age.
A timeworn French paper label remains attached to the front, printed with “expéditeur” and “destinataire.” This beautifully imperfect detail gives the pot an especially evocative, collected character.
• Distinctive button or “Shrek ear” handles
• Soft gray-biege crackled glaze
• Retains a worn French paper label
• Measures approximately 7" tall × 5½" diameter
Antique condition with crazing, glaze variation, firing irregularities, surface wear and deterioration to the paper label, all consistent with age and use. Please review the photographs closely.
